Production on Donald Glover's acclaimed FX show Atlanta has been delayed until 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to FX Networks Chairman John Landgraf during a virtual press conference. While the scripts for the upcoming seasons have been completed, one set to be shot in Europe and the other back in Atlanta, the safety concerns surrounding the virus prevented production from getting started. Originally, the show's third season was set to premiere in January 2021.

While Landgraf did not specify exactly when production would be able to resume, he placed it sometime in early 2021, adding that both upcoming seasons will be shot back to back. Following that, Landgraf said season 3 may premiere later that year.

The wait for the third season, ordered by the network back in June 2018, has already been a long one due to Glover's busy schedule working on projects including Solo: A Star Wars Story
and the live-action remake of The Lion King. He also shared a surprise album earlier this year as Childish Gambino.
