Watch Lady Gaga channel an arthouse oddity in her new “911” video

In a year of ill-timing, there have been few pop contretemps as jarring as the release of Lady Gaga's sixth studio LP Chromatica, which was postponed due to the pandemic and eventually dropped on May 29th during the height of civil unrest following the murder of George Floyd. Since its release, Gaga has kept uncharacteristically quiet, saving her first live performance of the new material for the VMAs a few weeks back. Today, she's following it up with a video for the album's third single, the antipsychotic Eurodisco

Directed by Tarsem Singh, the video offers a pop twist on Sergei Parajanov's 1969 arthouse film The Color Of Pomegranates. It's one of Singh's first music videos since helming the clips for R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion" and En Vogue's "Hold On" back in the nineties.
