At some point in the last few months, it looked like Caroline Polachek was going viral. TikTok users rediscovered the choreography from the video for her 2019 song "So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings" and turned it into budding dance trend, with Charli XCX and even Polachek herself taking part. As her internet star rose and more eyes than ever were on her TikTok account, Polachek shared a video of her screaming at some swans. I didn't see many "So Hot" dancing videos on my feed after that. Let me be clear: this was an extremely powerful move, and I deeply respect it.

These kinds of impulses make Polachek the progressive pop champion she is today, a title she retains with her latest single "Billions." Her solo follow-up to last year's "Bunny Is A Rider," "Billions" may be one of the most addictive songs she's ever recorded. Co-producers Danny L. Harle and Polachek create a kind of divine symmetry from its elements, channeling Pure Moods-era new age into something utterly splendid. Hear it below in the song's jaw-dropping music video co-helmed by Polachek and her go-to visual collaborator Matt Copson.

Here's Polachek's statement on the song: “The overabundance of this world overwhelms me. Sometimes it seems like ultimate tragedy, the earth being pillaged and destroyed for it. Sometimes it seems pre-human, beyond morality, sublime. I don’t pick sides, I just live here, with you. How does it feel, being so rich?”

Tonight, Polachek will take with stage opening for Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia tour. Find those dates below, and someone record her performing "Billions," please.
