The Nicki Minaj comeback is in full effect. She's got a potential smash hit locked and loaded with "Super Freaky Girl," a Rick James-sampling track with a snippet that's all over TikTok, dropping on August 11. And later this month, she'll take the stage at the 2022 MTV VMAs to accept the Video Vanguard Award and perform a medley of her hits. The show takes place Sunday, August 28 at 8 p.m. at Newark's Prudential Center, and will air on MTV.

“Nicki has broken barriers for women in hip-hop with her versatility and creative artistry,” Paramount's Bruce Gillmer said in a statement. “She has shifted the music industry and cemented her status as a global superstar with her crossover appeal, genre-defying style, and continuing to be unapologetically ‘Nicki’.”

Minaj has shared a string of new songs this year. She dropped "Do We Have A Problem?" and "Bussin," two tracks with Lil Baby, in February. The following month she teamed up with Coi Leray for "Black Blick" and guested on Fivio Foreign's "We Go Up." Last weekend she took the stage in Toronto for the Young Money reunion show with Drake and Lil Wayne.
