Japanese experimental metal icons Boris are teaming up with Uniform, the New York industrial rock band, for a new collaborative album. Bright New Disease drops June 16 via Sacred Bones, and today “You Are The Beginning” is out.
The two bands initially came together for a 2019 tour of North America. The seeds of their musical collaboration were first planted when Boris asked Uniform to remix their song "Akuma no Uta.” From there, discussions of a full-length collaboration began.
Bright New Disease was written as the COVID-19 pandemic raged on. In a press statement, Uniform's Michael Berden said that "You Are The Beginning" reflects on that period. “In the end, it sounds like the crystalized essence of both bands at the heights of their creative abilities. It is a testament of friendship and hope in the face of a world on fire.”
