Beyoncé honors Tina Turner with “River Deep, Mountain High” cover in London

A version of the 1966 song made it into the Renaissance tour setlist on Monday night.

When Tina Turner sadly passed away earlier this month, Beyoncé was among the first of a wave of musicians to pay tribute to the iconic singer. "I’m so grateful for your inspiration, and all the ways you have paved the way. You are strength and resilience," she wrote in a short note published on her website.

On Monday night, May 29, Beyoncé continued to honor Turner. During the opening night of the London leg of her Renaissance world tour at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium she included a cover of “River Deep, Mountain High” in her set. The cover was slotted into the opening section of the show, transformed from its original upbeat pace to something more akin to a power ballad.

Beyoncé previously performed with Turner at the 2008 Grammys when the duo sang "Proud Mary" together. Check out the "River Deep, Mountain High" cover below.
