On The Street: The Trashicist

Serving up asymmetry with Addams Family-meets-Apollonia whimsy, Elizabeth from The Trashicist could have walked straight off the Rad Hourani spring 2010 runway, just steps away from where we found her. A self-confessed sister of weirdness, she lists pessimism as her occupation (taxidermy and formaldehyde are apparently some of her more jolly interests). According to Elizabeth’s blog, Cassie commissioned her to design some of those signature hacked-up dresses for her birthday party, which might explain the shaved hairdo and moody look she’s been going for recently. Save for the Gareth Pugh fall ‘09 gravity-defying wedges, her outfit is entirely DIY which makes us feel a Crafternoon coming on…

General Idea designer, Bumsuk Choi sent double-breasted jumpsuits and kaledioscope print drop-crotch pants down his runway. But what we saw tripping down the street right outside was just as catwalk-worthy. Miguel Pinzon must have been reading our minds (or at least the magazine) when he picked out these lovely pair of one-of-a-kind Osborn Shoes, featured in the current issue.

On The Street: Wish You Were Here

The best shops of London’s Newburgh Quarter have exchanged places with the crop of Lower East Side stores for New York pop-up swap Wish You Were Here. We stopped by last weekend for the Ladies Lotto fashion show, where illustrator Shantell Martin tagged up willing body parts with her fantastical Carnaby Street characters. Caught in the crossfire between summer, fall and Shantell’s pen, Kayo stepped out in a look that straddled the seasonal divide nicely, layering a white jumpsuit and knit topper of her own design. With only one more week on this side of the pond, there’s a wrap party planned to shut down Orchard on September 13th.
