On The Street: Black and White and Red All Over
- story Chioma Nnadi

There are rare moments of pathetic fallacy when the world will happily conspire to accentuate your favorite outfit—like flowers in full bloom for your florals, or in this case, a deep red backdrop for some gorgeous and very graphic monochrome action. Coordinating your make-up with the interior of a subway car though, probably isn’t such a great idea.

On The Street: STPL x Airwalk Launch Party
- story Chioma Nnadi
Airwalk and STPL presented their latest collaboration down in SoHo yesterday night, a collection that’s due to hit stores in a matter of weeks (awesomely enough, the price point on it all hovers around the $50 mark.) The brown Terrain high-tops with red laces are our pick of the bunch, and in that subtle, understated vein, the best-dressed guests eschewed the usual primary-colored streetwear palette for earthier, bluesier looks.

Up in North Korea, everyone is jocking Kim Jong Il’s grandpa windbreaker and Blueblockers, while South Korea is watching reruns of Saved By the Bell on hacked Hulu and that shit looks fresh. Above photos are two points against crappy nuclear-threatening dictatorships.
On The Street: 23rd Street, NYC
- story Chioma Nnadi
It’s usually slim pickings up here on 23rd when it comes to style, but every now and again we spy a fashion pixie who’s strayed from the path or gotten lost on her way to Bushwick. This lady is definitely pixie-sized which kind of makes all the oversized bits and bobs on her outfit so satisfying—the cardigan could have been something she picked off the floor of her boyfriend’s bedroom, and the scarf a cravat she borrowed from her grandpa. Plus we bet she could grow that waist-length hair down to her toes if she wanted to.

On any given day in New York you can walk down the street and spot a young bohemian donning amazing Sarah Jessica Parker-circa-L.A. Story ringlets. We’re not sure how much time it takes to get it that way or if they just wake up and voila! Beauteous! Regardless, when we saw this girl we knew that she couldn’t be bothered with the mess of taming her wild locks, she probably just slipped on her creepers, tied on a scarf and headed out like Tina Turner on a Mad Max mission.

On the Street: Beijing
- story THE FADER
If you can’t be on vacation, then dressing like you are on vacation is definitely the next best thing (yes we would rather be in Hawaii too), especially because it’s too chilly here in New York for straw hats and silk blouses like this just yet. When it comes to flamingo-covered gift store trinkets though, the time is now.
On The Street: Jump Suits
- story THE FADER
Isn’t it funny how jumpsuits have gotten all roomy? So much so that you can make yourself resemble a human sized bat. We’re not talking smack on these young Bulgarian ladies, we genuinely like a balloon pant. It makes us feel like Annie Hall.
On the Street: Acid Drop
- story THE FADER
Last night we checked out Kenneth Cappello’s Acid Drop exhibit at Milk Gallery Project, a collection of photographs from the late eighties/early nineties of skaters dropping, grinding and basically looking fly in some of the meanest and most notorious streetwear fashion of our youth. From Vision to neon parachute pants, we had to step back for a moment and think about what skate brands we are riding for now. While our boards may have been put to rest, we still love a well-polished skate look and our boy Angelo over at Supreme always does it right. We especially like the functional accessorizing of his digi cam.
On the Street: Polka Dots

Believe it or not, Minnie Mouse-sized polka dots are really hard to find. While out shopping for gigantic dots the other day, we spotted this fellow channeling all our Minnie fantasies in one amazing pink and red flourish.

Recently we’ve noticed a lot of dudes recycling the white-rimmed Ray-Ban shades they bought last summer, throwing in some eyeglass lenses for a ‘09 update. This look definitely lends itself to certain degree of monochrome stylization—cue black bow tie and jazzy white tuxedo jacket! But there are chiller ways of nerding out too: beat-up and battered army boots or baggy shorts layered over long johns put a little Kurt Cobain on your Pee Wee Herman.
