FADER TV: LA Is A Nice Place To Live #9
- story THE FADER
On each episode of FADER TV’s LA Is A Nice Place To Live, the West Coast staff takes in some of the city’s culture and fun good times. We recently walked two blocks from the Los Angeles office to catch Little Boots‘ first L.A. performance at no other than the hipster mecca known as Cinespace. While we weren’t surprised Little Boots won over the crowd with her irresistible energy and sporadic turns at the tambourine, the crowd itself did catch us off guard. Who knew that somewhere there was a nexus between the Cobrasnake crowd and dudes that look like bank tellers? Little Boots is touring her homeland now but will return for some very special shows at SXSW in March.

FADER TV’s LA Is A Nice Place To Live #8
- story THE FADER
On each episode of FADER TV’s LA Is A Nice Place To Live, the West Coast staff takes in some of the city’s culture and fun good times. This episode finds the crew crossing the Orange Curtain to check out The Crosby in Santa Ana, simultaneously pushing the limits of their video camera and semantics. The Crosby is partly owned by Free the Robots, who this past Friday night did a beat set along with Los Angeles proper’s Daedelus. While both acts pulled off awesome sets, we have to admit that our favorite part of the night was the one-two punch of Stella and cajun shrimp pizza, which we enjoyed three feet away from where Daedelus was playing Brain Age.

FADER TV: LA Is A Nice Place To Live (With Nite Jewel)
- story THE FADER
On each episode of FADER TV’s LA Is A Nice Place To Live, the West Coast staff takes in some of the city’s culture and fun good times. Our first installment of 2009 has the crew going to Tiny Creatures for their official closing event. The nondescript storefront on Alvarado has hosted art and music events for the past three years, and we say goodbye to it with a warm hug and a meaningful pat on the back. Los Angeles’ own Nite Jewel also dropped by for a short set for a crowd too hemmed in by weird installations from the likes of Hedi El Kholti and Rachel Detroit to do much more than tap their feet. On any other day, we would have been bummed out about Nite Jewel making the tiny house P.A. system implode, but on this particular night it just seemed too apt and awesome to bring us down.

FADER TV: LA Is A Nice Place To Live #6
- story THE FADER
On each episode of FADER TV’s LA Is A Nice Place To Live, the West Coast staff takes in some of the city’s culture and fun good times. For Episode #6 we took in the tiny sights at the third annual Post-It Show put together at Giant Robot’s GR2 Gallery in Los Angeles. The show continues through January 13th and provides the opportunity to purchase new art at a low price, albeit limited to three inches by inches. See the video above and flyer after the jump.

FADER TV: LA Is A Nice Place To Live #1
- story THE FADER
LA Is A Nice Place To Live is FADER TV’s latest series, depicting the West Coast staff taking in some of the city’s culture and fun good times. This edition has us visiting Family, the bookstore on Fairfax, for Michel Gondry’s signing of his new book You’ll Like This Film Because You’re In It and a performance by Jennifer The Leopard. As you watch, keep your eyes open for an appearance by our favorite multi-hyphenate indie couple.
