Video: Killer Mike f. Big Kuntry King, “I’mma Fool Wit It”
- story Peter Macia
We’d be willing to bet fewer people would have problems with ATL strip club anthems if dudes rapped like Killer Mike on them, not that we think that’s correct, just putting it out there. They are, after all, songs for women to do NSFW activities to, not for dudes to count internal rhymes in a particular 16 bars. A recent office favorite, Killer Mike’s Underground Atlanta gets quickly into this highly intellectualized jam for the gentlemen’s clubs over a suitably Nard & B production, and the video is just as entertaining and office-unfriendly as you might expect.

Thank the rap gods that Killer Mike stays innovating in his own way. He’s not going to record an album of space funk about flying on a pink rocket ship to Sa-Ra’s home planet or anything, but he will go out of his way to put new and underappreciated rappers in the spotlight. Baby steps! Here’s another song from Mike’s Underground Atlanta compilation, which apparently features almost every rapper not named Andre or Big Boi from Atlanta that we’ve ever cared about. Okay, that’s a wild exaggeration, but there are a lot of awesome people on the album and he also got us to care about Big Kuntry King on this song.

Not too long ago, we reached out to Atlantic Records to see what the bidness was with Grand Hustle underboss Big Kuntry King. You know who is this is, mayne. He’d actually had a concrete release date earlier this year but that was before feds taking pictures prompted feds to start confiscating automatic weapons. Yet and still, in this most recent exchange, September 9th was reaffirmed as the release date, which at the time, was the same day as TI’s Paper Trail. O rly? But even as Paper Trail’s been pushed back, and could very well be again, if Kuntry has more of this in the stash, we’ll be straight for quite a while.

Dudes standing around talking about what they would do to girls if they had the chance reminds us of middle school dances. As a matter of fact, we used to dance kind of like they do in this video in middle school. We also used to describe the size of things with our hands. “Man, the FedEx guy brought a package THIS big and we had to unwrap it like THIS.” We need to get back to that.
