Video: Clipd Beaks, “Visions”

Clipd Beaks are the only band that can make us feel like we spent an entire day in a damp bathing suit, and for that we will always give them points. Now they’re back with the tense “Visions” — it’s all build and no release — and the imagery (including a baby and a cobra interacting) is enough to make us have a few minor heart attacks while just sitting at our desks. Clipd Beaks have a full-length coming much later on Lovepump United, and we’re using the time in-between to prep ourselves for what we can only imagine will be a series of anxious yet somehow satisfying musical moments.

We mentioned Barack Rock once before, and we reiterate that it’s a great site for those that are into exchanging free music for donations of money and/or time to help a presidential candidate. Since we last mentioned the site, our favorite Los Angeles based experimental drone freakout band Clipd Beaks have put the sleigh bell(!) accented “A Healing Song” up for download. We’re not saying that it is even close to the happiest song you’ll ever hear, but its good to give something in exchange for a solid dose of music that could soundtrack a bad acid trip in the Mojave desert.

Clipd Beaks have started a new MySpace page seemingly based off of a billboard they saw (pictured above). Normally this would not exactly be notable news, but on it they have a bunch of new songs including “Burning Apparitions,” which sounds like sitting in a lawn chair when it is 101 degrees while hungover in a wet swimsuit. We promise that they somehow make that actually a good thing.

New Clipd Beaks

Clipd Beaks have steadily been releasing white hot goopy desert jams for awhile now, and pretty quick on the heels of Hoarse Lords, they’ve got some new music up on their MySpace to check out, some of it is way out there but that’s what we’re expecting. Also, remember when we did this? Greg Pritchard, who we did the interview with, has since left the band on good terms, but keep an eye out for new Clipd Beaks material in the near future.
