Trai’D f. HP Miss & Fat B, “I’m Loaded” MP3/Young Thunda Cat Mixtape

Trai’D isn’t even old enough to have graduated college, but he talks about what he knows—getting fired up and hitting the club—and he knows it well. That’s kind of what everyone raps about, but they don’t sound like they’re chewing holes through your earlobes when they do it. And Fat B’s cheeks-full-of-cotton-balls D-Town drawl has yet to wear on us. In fact, by now we’d have expected both of these guys to have at least released some mixtapes to counter the stanky legged side of Dallas hogging up the city’s shine. But just when we were starting to lose hope, along comes Trai’D with his Young Thunda Cat mixtape. Now tapes like these are a gift and a curse these days because while Young Thunda Cat is pretty much the album we’ve been waiting on since his Gen F in F58, who knows if his label is even paying close enough attention to kick themselves in the ass for sitting on it for so long. On the other hand, we probably shouldn’t be looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Dallas Boogie: Mr. Hit Dat Hoe

My first introdcution to Treal Lee and Prince Rick and probably more importantly, Kedrick “Mr. Hit Dat Hoe” Wilson, was the above promo video for “Get Off Me Now.” Sometime this past spring, the video was making its way around gossip blogs, posted to responses of glee toward Wilson’s country swagger, but also contempt that a “rapper” would name himself “Mr. Hit That Hoe.” In actuality, Wilson isn’t a rapper, but a fearless dancer who inspired a hit song, and a deeper look into Dallas rap culture offers insight into his otherwise off-putting namesake.

Big Chief, Eat Greedy Mixtape

Musically, very little has changed with Big Chief since we spoke to him for F56’s Dallas Rap story. He’s still making city-crushing big boss records perfect for clouding penthouse views with high grade weed smoke, but with an appearance on MTV, he’s just now starting to reach the homes of people too far away to drive to Dallas’ Tha Bomb record store and cop the latest of his amazingly consistent “Eat Greedy” mixtape series. Now inching closer and closer to the national recognition that has somehow eluded him, this Eat Greedy mixtape, full of his hardest records to date with Florida kingpin Bigga Rankin, is a fine introduction to the world at large. After the jump, check the trailer for Big Chief’s upcoming album.

Video/Gen F: Trai’D, “Sex Pill”

“That’s real life situations…when you keep it real and your fans can say, I actually did that or I actually been through that, then they like, Damn this is some real ass shit. They relate to it and therefore they love it. If you was around me late at night, you’ll see what it is, I mean, the freaks come out at night. ” This is what Trai’D told us about “Sex Pill” and man, can we ever relate. After the jump, you can read more real talk in Felipe Delerme’s Gen F on Trai’D from FADER 58.

Freeload: Big Tuck, “Stunta Man”

Having profiled him in our F56 Dallas rap story, we can vouch that Big Tuck is both big and strong enough to do his own stunts. However, pairing “Stunta Man” with his still fervid
“Not A Stain” is indeed a stunt we couldn’t possibly advise. Aspiring DJs and stunt coordinators alike: consider yourselves warned.

Freeload: Fat Bastard, “It’s Going Down”

As far as regional dances go, for us the “Dallas Boogie” ranks right up there with Harlem Shake and the Bankhead Bounce. Attention people looking to impress friends: learn that shit. D-town’s own Fat Bastard continues his onslaught of boogie fever with his newest trunk rattler, “It’s Going Down.” Sure, people have made the claim before, but a man who has the “whole club crunk like I made it rain Skittles” is a man we need to be partying with.

Freeload: Big Chief f. Jim Jones, “My Swagg”

Swag, as a term, look, state of enlightenment, etc. seems to have very well run its course in hip-hop vernacular, but Swagg (with an extra “g” for gangsta!) seems to just be getting started. Dallas’ Big Chief, who you can read about in issue 56’s Dallas rap story, has a swagg so undeniable, Jim Jones, the swag swami himself got together with him for, you guessed it, “My Swagg.” Chief’s latest swagg-tastic endeavor, Eat Greedy Vol. 6: The Streets Got Me mixtape drops today. Since it’s absolutely impossible to find online, we invite you to join us in befriending him on Myspace and spamming his wall with individual requests for it. No swagg is above the internet!
