Henrik Vibskov & Andreas Emenius Launch The Fringe Projects Book in NYC

Danish designer and subject of a feature in FADER #63, Henrik Vibskov, and artist Andreas Emenius started out The Fringe Projects with just 20 euros, plastering themselves in black and white photocopies for their first installation. Several art exhibits and lots of shredded fabric later and the madcap duo have published a book on their antics one through 10, with everything from fringe-covered racing cars to beer bottles to crazy Cousin It outfits. The official NY book launch kicks off tonight at the LaViolabank Gallery on the LES between 6pm and 9pm. According to the flier posted on Diane Pernet’s site, new pancakes and techno will be served.

Sartorialist All-Stars

Since Scott Schuman did an interview with a Canadian newspaper last month, we were forced to put the The Sartorialist on a brief RSS-pause. There are many choice quotes in the article, but few more boner-killing than this one: “I’m pretty good at sex. And pretty good at picture taking.” Then a copy of his new book floated by our desk this morning, complete with a portrait of our very own sartorial all-star, contributing style editor Mobolaji Dawodu and Voilà!! all is forgiven!!! Other stylish folk that made the cut include extended FADER fam Mister Mort, Diane Pernet protégé Charles Guislain and former FADER fashion editor Julie Ragnolia who also scooped the cover. Besides fashion industry bigwigs the celeb count is pretty much zero, apart from a loving chapter dedicated to fellow sexoholic Kanye West.

Style: Charles Guislain is the Future of Men’s Fashion

Fashion blogger Diane Pernet has a knack for spotting talent super early, so we’re hedging our bets on her newest Margiela-wrapped protegé, Charles Guislain, being the future of avant-garde men’s fashion. The adorable little French fashionisto has been swanning his way through men’s fashion week in Paris, hustling shows on the strength of some baby-faced je-ne-sais-quoi charm, a bleach-blonde do and a mean pair of Rick Owens wedged booties. If he doesn’t end up being the next Hedi Slimane he will probably end up dating him.

NYC: Theo Mercier Opening Show

The fantastical French artist Theo Mercier is opening “Oil Now” at the Envoy Gallery in NYC tonight, and it looks to be a feat of awesome surrealism: crazily pasted photos, painted-on collages, and installation works made with stuff he found at flea markets and on the street. Mercier has worked with forward-thinking designer Bernard Wilhelm and Matthew Barney, who we’re assuming you’ve heard of. Go read this interview with Mercier on his friend Diane Pernet’s site, where you can also see his pretty epic collage of a seagull landing on a giant hamburger while a wave crashes behind it.
