Shawty Redd f. Drumma Boy, “I Be Needin My Bread” MP3

Both Shawty Redd and Drumma Boy have been integral in the ascent of Young Jeezy, who we’re gonna go out on a limb and assume was never late with their money. And while two of Atlanta’s most in-demand producers are an unlikely match up for a song about NOT getting paid, Shawty Redd doing his best Papa Reu over Drumma’s spacey McGyver-escape synth is a nice offering from dudes who usually spend all their time twisting knobs.

Check out that guitar! Is that even guitar? For all we know it could be a harp or something. Whatever it is, it comes straight from the mind of Drumma Boy, who how has an entire crew of rappers, including Gangsta Boo, some young kid and a woman that sounds like a female Jeezy on helium, rapping over what could basically be a sped-up sample from Panda Bear’s Young Prayer. Freeload: Rich Boy, “It’s Over”

After watching Against All Odds again, one thing that occurred to us is that late-’80s movies had awesomely dramatic soundtracks. Are hi-gain echo pedals the new autotune? We hope so. At the forefront of this trend we just made up is Drumma Boy, who put Miami-cop-movie guitars on this beat for “It’s Over.” Rich Boy responds in kind by rapping slowly and dramatically about Range Rovers, which may have something to do with the end of SUVs in America. It’s all very stony and zeitgeistical.
