Exclusive Stream: DJ Skee & DJ Drama Present R. Kelly, My Demo Tape
- story THE FADER
The thing about R. Kelly singing/rewording/remixing today’s popular hits is that he kind of bests them. This is not a surprise, considering it’s, you know, ROBERT MFing KELLY, but it breathes new life into songs you maybe thought you hated because the radio plays them 74 times an hour. (NYC morning radio rotation: “Birthday Sex,” “Best I Ever Had,” “Knock You Down.” Repeat.) Of course Kellz kicks it off with The-Dream’s “Kelly’s 12 Play” because the man will never refuse an opportunity to be meta. This is Drama’s best Gangsta Grillz in a hot minute, no?

Exclusive Stream: Franz Ferdinand, “Feel The Pressure (Dub Remix)”
- story THE FADER
Franz Ferdinand released this album Tonight a few months back and because they are awesome, they decided do its “sister album” entirely in dub versions and call it Blood, out June 1. Generally as a concept, the word “dub” when preceded by “(non-Jamaican) remix” is short for “dubious,” but the bass percolating beneath their jagged, sexy Scottish punk vox obliterate our preconceived notions of potential West Coast stoner factor and convince us Franz should cop more whammies and echo pedals and do all their tracks like this.

- story THE FADER
Ahaaaaa! After five longass years, The Champ has released a new record and it’s faster, stronger, leaner than he’s ever been—his trademark punchlines are out in full force and he’s filled in the gaps with solidly styled storytelling. New York to the core, Kiss can still show all these other lightweights how to do it. Now with more OJ Da Juiceman! Take our word for it—the track with Jeezy is a mild volcano burning up three counties—and stream his new album The Last Kiss in its entirety a full week before it drops.
