A Fond Farewell To FADER Japan
- story THE FADER
We’ve been huddled around the final issue of FADER Japan, which has brought us entertainment in ways that only an issue of The FADER (from anywhere) can bring us. Sometimes it may have been confusing, yes, but mostly we were happy to see our writing appear in Japanese and also see what they were into over there. (Answer: Alife! Lots of DJ Krush!) FADER Japan, we enjoyed reading you as best we could, and we’re bummed we never got to hang out in your office.
The Delight of FADER Japan
- story THE FADER
We never really know when it’s going to show up, but every time it does we all huddle around and marvel at the latest issue of FADER Japan—the mag that is quickly inching away from ours and into its own territory. This issue, the cover is really thick and there is some weird Ninja Tune 10th anniversary feature. We think it’s about downtempo. Do you, FADER Japan! In addition to that there’s an entirely original Gen F section and mostly all new features. If you can find it and read it, we recommend it.
The Secret Mind Garden of FADER Japan
- story THE FADER
Everytime FADER Japan puts out a new issue they’re kind enough to send it to us so we can flip out over some of our stories being translated to kanji. Except recently we noticed we hadn’t received Issue #7. Interesting. We did a little research and found out it was their, umm actually, we’re not sure what it is but we’re pretty sure it has to do with lace gloves and scrunchies. Not hating, just asking why we didn’t get one. If you’re in Japan and want to know more about local music, pick up the latest issue (#8) as their editorial slant has recently moved away from reprinting our stories toward more Japanese bands and artists. Well done, dudes.
