Flashback Friday Video – Pearl Jam "Jeremy"

It’s been a week of early 90s Grunge flashbacks; to the sweet days when an old flannel, ripped up jeans, and unruly hair was our daily-do, and Eddie Vedder was our idea of a golden-grunge god. (Ok, ok maybe we never got the memo to retire our flannel, or buy a hairbrush when the millennium hit, but really can you blame us?) At least we’ve been able to catch a ride on the Seattle-nostalgia-bandwagon this week, with the recent reissue of Pearl Jam‘s Ten. read more »

Flashback Friday Video – The Shins "New Slang"

Since we just told you about The Shins parting ways with their long time record label Sub Pop… possibly forever, we deemed it only necessary to bring you back to the fresh young days of The Shins’ success when Oh, Inverted World was just a newly released record from a few New Mexico-born Indie-rock hopefuls, and “New Slang” was just some song Natalie Portman made Zach Braff listen to in that movie Garden State. read more »

Flashback Friday Video – Devo "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"

Since last month had a Friday the 13th too, we decided to forego the creepy video this time around and pay homage to Devo’s decision to play their 1978 debut Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! in it’s entirety. read more »

Flashback Friday Video – Flaming Lips "She Dont Use Jelly"

In light of the recent bickering between Flaming Lips front man Wayne Coyne and the Arcade Fire‘s Win Butler, we figured to take you back to 1993. A time when the Flaming Lips personified the carefree attitude of their hit single “She Don’t Use Jelly”. read more »

Flashback Friday Video – INXS "New Sensation"

As we told you earlier, INXSMichael Hutchence-replacement is now living in his car after being kicked out of the band. We deemed it only necessary to bring you guys back to the good old days of INXS this Friday; to the days before masturbating-related deaths and bad reality T.V. shows scarred the band’s success. read more »

Flashback Friday Video – Marilyn Manson "Dope Hat"

Yeah, we went there. It is Friday the 13th after all, and when diving into the video vaults there are few videos that raise the hair on the back of our collective necks more than this Willy Wonka-inspired video for Marilyn Manson‘s “Dope Hat”. read more »

Flashback Friday Video – Bruce Springsteen "Dancing In The Dark"

The Vegas odds of Bruce Springsteen playing “Born In The USA” during his Superbowl half-time performance were 2-1. It was also tabbed as the most popular choice by bookies to either start or close his set, but the Boss would not have it. Since the budget for the Superbowl is usually pretty modest, we knew bringing Courtney Cox on stage for a reunion was a long-shot, but we thought for sure it would be the high-point of the night. The Boss wasn’t having it. read more »

Flashback Friday Video – The Presidents Of The United States Of America "Peaches" & "Lump"

What? You thought we would run the video of the classical quartet faking their way through the inauguration performance? Or maybe the Arcade Fire video from the party for Obama staffers? Why would we when we can take a look back at a time when The Presidents Of The United States Of America brought their 2-string, minimalist pop rock ‘n’ roll into our living rooms? How’s that for change? Is it as good as an intro made up entirely of questions instead of statements? read more »

Flashback Friday Video – Jane's Addiction "Been Caught Stealing"

With most of this week’s news swirling around Animal Collective, there were few reference points to help us look back in time. So we just decided to run this classic video because for his entire life, our editor thought the line “she grabbed a razor for me” was “she gave a raisin to me.” read more »
