Sia, “You’ve Changed” MP3
Last year Lauren Flax made one of our favorite songs of the last ten years in “You’ve Changed” featuring her friend Sia, who happened to be in town when Flax was composing it and came by her apartment to lay down some tracks. We are clearly not alone in our admiration because Sia decided to make her own version of “You’ve Changed” for her album proper, imbuing it with a disco treatment that sits as a lovely companion piece to Flax’s breathless house version. You can get with this, but you should also get with that, they’re equally sweet.

- story THE FADER
Last Friday on The Let Out (our weekly show on East Village Radio, made possible by Dewars), Lauren Flax came through for an hour of house jams and conversation about seances and a vagina tree, and then the Get Em Mamis made it from Baltimore just in time to play us an exclusive new song and tell us their drinking plans for the weekend. Exclusive Freeload: Telepathe, “So Fine (Lauren Flax Remix)”
- story THE FADER
Lauren Flax has been monstrously busy as of late (the morning after we interviewed her for her Gen F in issue 59, she embarked on an extended tour as Fischerspooner’s DJ, for instance). Between putting down her vivacious house sets worldwide, though, she squeezed in time to rework fellow Brooklyn duo Telepathe’s dark and clattering industrial song “So Fine” into an icy, eerie 4/4 track consistent with Flax’s tendencies towards emotional melodies and appreciation for goth. Sounds like anger being extinguished into isolation and finally, irreverence.

Live: FADER 59 Issue Release Party
- story THE FADER
We had a party in Brooklyn last night to celebrate the release of our annual NOW issue, this time around with Little Boots and Charles Hamilton on the covers. LB couldn’t make it from the UK, so Charles went solo and pulled out all the tricks, namely shredding on a Hello Kitty guitar (We stole it from a little girl on the subway for him). F59 Gen Fer Lauren Flax played records for everyone to rub shoulders to while they knocked back some free Bud American Ale, and by the end of the night we were roasting our nuts over Union Pool’s fire pit. Camp FADER! After the jump, check out a whole bunch of pictures from the packed party, and keep checking TheFADER.com for more exclusives.

Lauren Flax’s “You’ve Changed” is a late contender for JAM OF 2008, though it might turn out to be JAM OF 2009, or even A JAM OF A LIFETIME. Flax will basically give an mp3 of the song to anyone who emails her, but if you don’t have her email address or are too shy to MySpace message her, Mad Decent recently posted it up. Get it and expect more from us re: Lauren Flax in the nearish future.
