Freeload: Minitel Rose, “Magic Powder”
- story THE FADER
Yesterday we posted the video for “Magic Powder” and Minitel Rose responded in the coolest way possible: by sending us the song to give to all those outside of France who won’t be able to buy their album The French Machine when it comes out on May 28th. Judging by the songs we’ve heard so far, it might be worth it to send some hearty American currency to Paris to get our hands on a copy. And with the exchange rate it will only cost us three hundred dollars without shipping! Regardless, these guys show the immediate road away from Ed Banger, Kavinsky et al which leads who knows where but probably somewhere we will be spending a fair amount of time.

We are starting a contest today to see who can make a song stealing ideas from Daft Punk, Klaxons, Newcleus and Peter Bjorn & John and make it sound not terrible and annoying. Okay go! And we have a winner! Their name is Minitel Rose and the winning song is “Magic Powder.” There were no other entries and probably shouldn’t be because this is the only way to do it. Minitel Rose will be playing a couple shows in early June with our man Sebastian Tellier, so if you like to do things that involve French people, keyboards and beards, this is your Margaritaville.
