Stream: Crookers f. Kelis, “No Security”
What with the epic “Scars” with Basement Jaxx and this sparkly dubstep joint from our Milano party brethren Crookers, we’re impressed by Kelis‘ sudden ubiquity, having just popped a kid and gotten divorced and all. As Annie Mac (that’s Annie Mac, right?) says on this radio rip, the new US mainstream’s interest in dubstep is kind of bazonkers, though we’re still waiting for that Jay-Z/Joker collabo. But then Ms Rogers has always been adventurous—you’ll recall her early work with Neptunes when they were the hottest shit in space—and we hear she’s been working on her new album with our beloved Switch, which sounds like one of the best ideas ever. Until that transpires, we’ll marvel at this YouTube rip of “No Security,” which Crookers put up on their own blog. That’s kind of funny, right?

Video: Pitbull f. Pharrell, “Blanco”
- story THE FADER
Looking at the the tracklist for the Fast & Furious soundtrack, released on Star Trak this week, it’s not hard to imagine Pharrell and Chad sitting on their dirtbikes laughing about all the money they got for what appears to be a lot of leftovers—we wrote about Fam-Lay’s (now Shark City Click) “Head Bust” in early 2007! But then we realized none of this stuff ever actually saw the light of day on an actual release, so maybe it’s not so insidious after all. Plus, not only does the soundtrack represent for a lot of the reggaeton/Latino artists we’ve had in the magazine, a couple of them, Don Omar and Tego Calderon are in the movie…acting…probably better than some of the actors. Wouldn’t be the first time! Here’s the video for Pharrell and Pitbull’s single off the soundtrack, one of FIVE Pit tracks on there, in which they offer some POV gentleman clubbing.

Audio: N.E.R.D., “Everyone Nose”
- story THE FADER
If “Everyone Nose” is truly the 1st single from the new N.E.R.D. album, emotions are already mixed. That stand-up bass and sax jingle are type ill, but the screwed/hollered chorus aren’t anything to wake up your booboo for and Pharrell sounds kinda tired on the verses. HOWEVER, if dude grows his fumanchu back and starts kicking it with Clue again, we will pretend like we’ve never heard anything like this before.
(thanks Eyez)
UPDATE from well-informed familia: Pharrell totally ripped off this Panamanian reggaeton track I’ve been searching for for two years. It’s called “At chu (Estoy Cansada)” by Demphra and it’s fucking awesome. And i bet pharrell has it. (Ed. IF ANYONE HAS THIS SONG, PLEASE EMAIL IT TO info@thefader.com. Thanks to everyone who sent “At Chu.” You will be rewarded in Valhallaton.)
