Itemized: No Mas You Cannot Be Serious Sweat
- story Felipe Delerme
Every week a different FADER staff member will pick a clothing item or accessory that he or she has lately been spending a lot of time with—or would like to—and write a little love letter to it. We would’ve done a column on who we’re dating but that seemed a little bit much. This week Felipe Delerme writes about the No Mas You Cannot Be Serious Sweat.

Video: No Mas x James Blagden Present the LSD No-No
- story Peter Macia
DISCLAIMER: We don’t know what it’s like to be on drugs, but if we did, we would find this new animation No Mas and James Blagden made of Dock Ellis’ legendary 1970 no-hitter while on acid EXTREMELY EFFING FUNNY. But as it is that we don’t know what it’s like to experience illegal substances, it is merely a compelling tale of athletic prowess and hippie culture. Rest in peace, Dock, you were one-of-a-kind. James Brown vs Ali in No Mas’ Rumblevision
- story Chioma Nnadi
It’s been 35 years since George Foreman and Muhammad Ali met on Zairian soil for their “Rumble in the Jungle”—or as some would have it—the Fight of the Century. NYC-based clothiers No Mas are celebrating the anniversary of Ali’s victory with Rumblevision, a series of animated shorts in which artists like David Rathman pick and mix pivotal rumble moments (the rope-a-dope, the press conference, the epic TOK) in bluesy watercolor. Illustrator James Blagden on the other hand, goes off on a pretty amazing and fantastical tangent for his short, staging an entirely re-imagined rumble where James Brown goes toe to toe with Ali in a puff-sleeved, flared-leg onesie. It’s really more of a soul-powered dance-off than a real fight, and kind of like what Celebrity Death Match, might look like if you crossed it with America’s Best Dance Crew.

Video: Old Yankee Stadium is No Mas
- story THE FADER
FADER friend Chris Isenberg, the man behind sports obsessive design group No Mas, sent over this documentary they made a year ago on the last opening day of the old Yankee Stadium. It follows Fred Schuman aka Freddie Sez, the unofficial mascot of the Bronx Bombers, from his Upper West Side apartment to the stadium and it’s pretty great, especially considering how quickly everyone seems to have forgotten the old digs now that they can eat sushi while CC Sabathia rolls off the pitcher’s mound today on opening day at the new Yankee Stadium. So watch the doc, then watch the festivities.

STYLE TV: Chris Isenberg of No Mas
- story THE FADER
Journalist-turned-clothier Chris Isenberg printed up his first Cassius Clay tee back in 2003 and has been indulging our nostalgia for classic moments in sporting history with his line No Mas ever since. Outside the sporting nerdetry, it’s the sartorial attention to detail we really appreciate (keep an eye out for the lettering on the hoodie!) and irreverent nudge-nudge wink-wink flourishes like his unkillable series of reinvented vintage Champion sweaters. We went up to the No Mas studio last week to get a walk through of the latest collection and take a look at the newest accessory collaboration with design duo Dee and Ricky.
