To celebrate the fact that we just finished an issue with David Byrne on the cover (insane!) we decided to link up with our dudes at We Make It Good to throw a party in a crazy popup store with giant phones and videos projected everywhere. We also decided that for some good old FADER synergy we’d have a few of the F61-featured Dutty Artz crew warm us up while we knocked back Budweiser and ogled the dude dressed as Karl Lagerfeld. Weird times. Before 10:00pm, California’s next great rap hope Nipsey Hussle hopped on stage, and kept us interested in the face of sound problems and camera snaps. By the time Pretty Titty started playing jams we were feeling a teeny tiny bit less responsible (if you know what we mean), so we walked off into the night, another successful FADER party under our belts.

PARTY TIME: The Ace Hotel and Levi’s® Present Desert Gold

Attention temporary residents of Palm Desert: In addition to the action-packed long weekend of music at Coachella this year, Levi’s® and the Ace Hotel are hosting a three day offsite (and late night) party featuring our dudes and We Make It Good DJs XXXchange, Paul Devro and Pretty Titty on Friday night, doing an all day thing on Saturday with a listening party for Sonic Youth’s new album and performances by the Cave Singers and Northwest/”SoCal Desert” bands, and concluding the whole shebang on Sunday with more jammy jams with bands from Portland and Joshua Tree. Last Friday on The Let Out (our weekly show on East Village Radio, made possible by Dewars), DJ Pretty Titty aka Clayton Vomero of We Make It Good fame played a bunch of jams (check both Beyond the Wizard’s Sleeve remixes). Not to be outdone, we came through with a selection of new music that’s been rattling around in our ear canals, and through our combined efforts we created a completely 100% solid two hour block of music. Levi’s®/FADER Fort: Titty’s Getting Extra

For the most part, the Levi’s®/FADER Fort goes off without a hitch and all of our big plans come to fruition. Every once in awhile though, something doesn’t quite work out, like Evan Dando of the Lemonheads losing his voice and foiling our Dandocam plans (Don’t steal our ideas.) Luckily, instead we got a little extra batch of jams from Pretty Titty and Fourcolorzack, playing air keys and songs about the sun.
