Rich Kids f. Lil Scrappy & Ludacris, “Partna Dem (Remix)” MP3

The adorable little after-school swag team the Rich Kids (not pictured above with Luda and Scrappy) scored a certified hit this summer with “Partna Dem,” and reportedly, even had Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em requesting a meeting. They finally dropped their Money Swag mixtape a few weeks ago and if they’re not already selecting a next single, they’re probably figuring out which label the album will be released on. That doesn’t, however, stop recent DTP signee Lil Scrappy and his new boss Luda from joining in on the back-patting. Their version is a little more about what kind of things they like to do with their friends rather than who their friends actually are, but Luda does take the opportunity to smack Chingy upside the head high school cafeteria-style though.

In addition to recording a gang of raps, some of which we’re told were meant to eventually be actually rapped by the ever-elusive Dr. Dre, T.I. signed some super cool high school kids to Grand Hustle. They have fancy haircuts, expensive man bags and, like their dear Uncle D’Juan, they love Polo. Rich Kids strike some strange balance between a 2009 New Edition and even younger Young Dros and Yung LAs. Earlier this year they dropped “Partna Dem” and we got excited for this mixtape, but then they were kind of stagnant. Unless you count graduating from high school and shit. But Money Swag is here now and its all the backyard birthday cookout sheen we’ve been waiting for.

So “swag music” is the latest sub-genus bubbling in the A and some spoiled little Rich Kids are at the forefront. Actually these kids are far from spoiled because they made a song entirely about shouting out their friends. And though they are totally swagged out (see mohawks AND wallet chains), they do take the time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures like riding BMX bikes, as they can be seen doing with T.I. in the video for “What Up, What’s Haapnin’.” As an album title, Money Swag is a little predictable but after spending some time on their MySpace, we can’t say we aren’t going to be checking for it.
