Style: Filippa K Store Launch
- story THE FADER
Minimalist Scandinavian label Filippa K opened its first US store yesterday in the heart of San Francisco’s shopping district, transforming a former bank into a calming space designed to rev up your shopping senses. Filippa Knutsson, the designer behind the label says she chose San Francisco because the city’s “sense of integrity and respect for nature appealed to her.” We can get with that, considering we know more than a few people named Sunshine who live there.
He’s Your Pushinsky
- story THE FADER
Way back in F30 we praised SF street photographer Ted Pushinsky for his gift at capturing “the strange, fluid reality of city living” over a four-decade career, most recently in the pages of beloved zine Hamburger Eyes. Thankfully, we can now stop scotch taping ‘Burger pages to our walls and replace them with full-size (16″x20″!) silver gelatin prints from Ted himself, courtesy of the fine people at Turntable Lab. Check the collection and save your pennies.
San Francisco: Jay Howell at 111 Minna Gallery
- story THE FADER
Back in December, we asked Jay Howell to submit a list for our Listmania and dude came super correct with Best Dogs of 2007. No joke, we have two separate but identical dog calendars in the FADER office. You see that post below this one about synergy? We are not joking. San Franciscans like him can feel his connective spiritual art moonbeams when his show, “Punks Git Cut” opens at 111 Minna Gallery tomorrow evening. PS the information about the show says “Painting, photos, animations and raw ass dudes jammin fuck all night.” Real talk.
