Dollars to Pounds: Fair Ohs
- story Scott Wright
As the Summer Of Rad draws to a close, here is a band that epitomizes the past few months of UK good times. Fair Ohs equal FUN. Matt Flag, Joe Ryan and Eddy Frankel are super posi dudes who combine hardcore and highlife to bring the party pain. You may have heard their recent sunshine jam “Summer Lake” on these fair pages. Here is another called “Almost Island.” I spoke to Fair Ohs about Benga music, recording songs on dictaphones and the dudest of dudes, Chevy Chase.

Thee Fair Ohs, “Summer Lake” MP3
Last night, at 8:31 PM EST, we got a cryptic email including this song, the subject header “I keep waking up by mistake” and nothing else. Been reading a Paul Auster detective novel so obviously it feels really meta and frightening at that hour, like some missive from a character who means us harm. But no, it’s just a killer rock track with burbly guitars by three Brit dudes who really know what guitar pedals they need to use to make their audience feel wistful and carefree simultaneously. Our only regret is that we did not have this to rock all summer and/or that one time we actually made it to the beach.
