Audio: East Village Radio 5/29

Last Friday on The Let Out (our weekly show on East Village Radio), we had Those Dancing Days play some acoustic songs. That’s right, we fit an entire band plus instruments into the closed-sized studio and it was awesome. Listen live to East Village Radio this and every following Friday from 6-8pm EST, stream last week’s audio podcast below and check out the tracklist after the jump.

The Let Out: Those Dancing Days

This week on the Let Out, the FADER’s weekly East Village Radio show, Stockholm pop quintet Those Dancing Days are coming through to play some of their irresistibly hooky songs with just voice, a guitar and a little toy piano. We will also make them talk about their amazing sense of style, and play Swedish songs we haven’t heard yet because we don’t live in the pop capital of the world.
Listen live to the Let Out this and every Friday from 6-8 pm on East Village Radio.

We love gift bags (hello fashion week!) and second helpings of pie. We thought we were getting a new song from Sweden’s sweethearts Those Dancing Days, but instead we got a semi-old-but-still-fave Those Dancing Days song, along with three other joints from their labelmates: Lovvers, Sky Larkin and First Aid Kit. Is it everyone’s birthday? We are bringing the champagne. Everyone probably should ride bikes to the party, because we’re pretty sure Those Dancing Days rides bikes everywhere. We’re also positive they stay on the Agg-Tval, complexions like morning dew.

Freeload: Those Dancing Days, “Home Sweet Home”

In writing the stories that appear in every issue of The FADER, we often find ourselves away from our place of residence, and usually we are not too sad about it. But we don’t live in Sweden, which is where one of our favorite all girl quintuplets Those Dancing Days is from, so we can hardly blame them for writing a song about how great it is to be where they belong. Jerks. Someday you will run out of meatballs, Sweden! And then you’ll be begging for some vacation! The ladies also made a video for “Home Sweet Home” video a little while ago.

To be honest, you can’t even buy Those Dancing Days’s self-titled EP in the United States (yet?), but we’re sure if you pray hard enough to the Almighty Goog, it might find its way into your deserving hands. We have extolled the virtues of Sweden’s most adorable band a couple times here before, and this video does nothing to change our minds. In fact, it makes us want to leave the office and go do something fun, but what doesn’t? As it turns out, you can listen to the whole EP on their MySpace, the closest thing to paradise on the internet.

Several months ago we were turning into preteen girls over the immensely adorable Those Dancing Days, and now they have a new video where they treat a pack of hipster dudes like sled dogs. What’s next, they turn into calorie-free chocolate and a great pair of shoes and ship themselves to our office? Fuck! Stop getting cuter!

It doesn’t take much to get dudes in the FADER offices dancing around like little girls, but Sweden’s Those Dancing Days are actually nearly getting us to braid each other’s hair and write diaries about Papoose. Unbelievably cute but more importantly given the gift of crazy pop songwriting, the Days ladies have found their way onto UK juggernaut Wichita Recordings and will be playing shows around London the first week of November.
