Video: Natalie Storm, “God Bless Me”

We knew Kingston dancehall princess Natalie Storm was awesome (see: talent, starpower, charisma, ill riddim possibly named after snacks), but we had no clue she could also levitate. In her long-awaited video for “God Bless Me” she also proves herself to be the latex queen of the Matrix, stomping out some serious ninja ass and taking over multilingual billboards, too. Big ups to the TNT ladies! (via the Heatwave)

Ghetto Palms 64: New Riddims – School Bell / G35 / Street Team Pt. II

What with all the raga soca, afropop, tropicalia and whatever the Payola riddim is, it has been a minute and a half since there was a straight ahead 90 bpm woomp/woomp/clack dancehall blend in this space. The last might have been the Street Team riddim in fact. Good thing a couple more artists have jumped on it since then, about the same time two new riddims in the same mode dropped.

Freeload: Tifa, “Without Warning” MP3

Our best lady chatta Tifa, of the irrefutable TNT/Badda Badda Gals (watch our most recent video with them above), consistently invents creative ways to refer to her chocha, retaining her dirty-dirty but flipping metaphors so the sex references don’t thud like a blunt instrument. We can think of like five rappers, male and female, in America who should be studying this approach. For “Without Warning,” though, she’s a little sunnier, mellower and poppier—welcome sunshine on a day when it feels like we’re in summer’s doghouse.

Video Premiere: Tifa, “Spell it Out”

Kingston’s Badda Badda Gals aka TNT aka Timberlee, Natalie Storm and Tifa have been blasting on the FADER megahorn since they individually released tracks on Ward 21’s Dem Gal Sittin riddim. As much as we love them as a trio, we are happy to see them breaking out individually because, do the math, that equals triple the awesome kicky dancehall. This video for Tifa’s “Spell it Out” expresses her badness: tough chatter, playful lyrics, everything pops. However, we must note that the guy with the necktie headband is the clear runner-up for star of this video.

In the continued saga of our stanning of rising dancehall supergroup TNT, we offer the latest jewel: a sick brag track from Miz Badda Badda herself, the ferocious Tifa, who is in fact spelling it all out for those who would step to her. Ward 21 came with yet another crazy riddim we want everyone we like to sing, rap or deejay over. Hey can you guys just come over and play this stuff in our apartment? Cool, thanks.

We’ve made no secret of our admiration for Kingston’s TNT (aka dem Badda Badda gals Timberlee, Natalie Storm and Tifa), having featured their dancehall kickers approximately a million times. Here, German beatsmith Schlachthofbronx applies some Eastern Euro club salve on Ms. Timberlee’s newish “Gunny Gunny,” trading out the original Mad Ting Riddim’s mean minimalism for a xylophone melody and, consequently, levity under her sped-up, ferocious-ass vocals. The memories of that wild dancehall club we attended in Berlin a few years back are currently irrepressable. Don’t ask, don’t tell.

Video: TNT aka Badda Badda Gals at the Levi’s®/FADER Fort NYC

We knew TNT would be excellent after we kicked it with them on our radio show, but we weren’t quite prepared for the inextinguishable firestorm our fave Jamaican ladies brought to their FADER-exclusive CMJ performance. Longtime BFFs, TNT—Tifa, Natalie Storm and Timberlee—toasted, deejayed, joked, sang, rapped and wine’ded a grip of special cuts from their catalog, with Max Glazer on decks, playing the Eddie Murphy role to their Dream Girls, only without all the megadrama. Their charisma was outtasight, their jokes were excellently funny, and one of our editors is half-considering moving to Kingston to become their full-time hype chick. In this video, they’re performing the jams that blew them out the water (effectively christening them the “Badda Badda Gals”) and into your faces: their versions for Ward 21’s “Dem Gal Sittin” riddim, with Timberlee’s “Stress Free,” Tifa’s “Crawny Gal,” and Natalie Storm’s “Anuh My Fault.” JUST LIKE IT’S ANUH YR FAULT IF YOU START LOVING TNT AFTER WATCHING THIS VIDEO! Wah waaahhh.
