Video: Ghostface Killah, “Stapleton Sex”

Well, hmm. First off, if you work in a formal, corporate, government-operated environment, or basically anywhere that is not at home or The FADER, you probably should wait til you get to the crib to pop this one in the VCR. Direct from his forthcoming R&B album, it is perhaps the nastiest song Ghost has ever written (”My slow jam dick is on Thursdays,” he explains) and paired with the aesthetics of Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill! as viewed through internet era voyeurism. A fetish video with ass-clapping close-ups and ball gags—sorry Starks but you probably won’t be getting a Moon Man for this one—that makes the “Pon de Floor” video that froke out so many of our readers seem like a friendly stroll down Sesame Street. The vintage vibe doesn’t really neutralize the extraness of this footage, and we can’t decide if the video would have been less crazy if it mirrored the song (Ghost having a dirty, rough romp with his girlfriend) or if the bondage girls in the video actually tone it down. Is this sexually empowering on some Susie Bright tip, or are these ladies bound by one man’s fantasy? Is it less nasty with the sound off? We’ll probably be unpacking this one for a couple of days. All we know is, we kind of want to remind the lady in the leather catsuit to make her girlfriend delete the dirty photos off her iPhone, cause you never know where they’ll end up.

Video: Raekwon, “Walk Wit Me”

Since Only Built for Cuban Linx II is already considered a classic album (was before it ever dropped, really), it should only follow that Raekwon make a classic video for the gritty “Walk Wit Me,” combining all the classic rap-vid imagery (a Gucci store, a boat, a kidnapping) with some of the newer trappings (Nuvo, early ’00s Hype Williams-style splitscreen, a t-shirt with geometric shapes on it). And, appropriately, the narrative is druggy as all hell, Hawaii skyline setting a backdrop for a dude talking on the phone to Rae, then tossing his phone into the ocean. The ocean turning blood-red is a nice touch. When Rae rolled through our office not long ago, he talked about some scripts he had in the works. If he never gets around to writing a movie, he could just add some dialogue to this video and we’re sure we’d be pretty satisfied. Play it on 106, BET!

Raekwon f. Ghostface, Inspectah Deck + Method Man, “House Of Flying Daggers” MP3

It feels like most of Wu-Tang has spent the last couple years walking around in a state of utter boredom. Releasing tracks to appease fans and occasionally hitting the mark just enough to give everyone hope that they are actually, no fooling, back for real this time. But this? Everyone sounds hyped to be recording this song, but no one more than Raekwon, who goes off on some crazy shit about being buried in Africa with whips and spears and diamonds. This is what these dudes excel at: give them a beat (in this case a very RZA-esque off-kilter jam produced by Dilla), throw a kung-fu sample at the beginning and and then let them rap aggressive stream of consciousness for five minutes.

Reliving Our Youth Through This Weekend’s Rap Videos

Man oh man, nothing like a slew of rap videos from the class of 2004 and beyond to get us hopping on a Monday morning. We missed Eminem’s horror show on Skinemax Saturday night because no matter how vigorously they are tweaked the rabbit ears do not pick up pay channels. But, we did catch the web premieres of former/current Dipset members Cam’ron and Juelz (Juelz wins? Someone send us a sad Dipset emoticon). Then, after watching Inspectah Deck and Sean Price earn a paycheck, we tried to finish strong with Red Café’s new one, in which he promises to bring throwback jerseys back. Let’s do this! Kanye who!?

The Wu-Tang Clan’s Live at Montreux DVD

There’s a spot in Orange County called Foxfire that’s known as a place to pick up cougars. We’re not saying that we’ve been there (and we’re not saying we haven’t), but watching women of a certain age trying to lure in guys that should be tutoring their kids for the SATs is as uncomfortable as you’d expect. It’s kind of the same feeling you get while watching Wu-Tang’s recently released Live at Montreux DVD. Everyone on stage seems either too old or too worried about their stock portfolio (“You got to know how to jack this shit. You got to play this game rough. In, out, get, grab, baong!”) to really get hyped, and it shows. That is, except Method Man. That dude’s spritely for his age. Anyway, unless you’re a diehard Wu completist, we’d recommend that you buy the last season of The Wire instead to get your Meth fix. It’s now available on DVD.

Video: RZA, “You Can’t Stop Me Now/Drama” Trailer

Remember when RZA first became Bobby Digital and said that he actually was fighting crime in a Bobby Digital costume? Remember when he made and then never released a Bobby Digital film? Remember when MF Doom used this beat in 2003 on his King Geedorah album? All of these have something in common, and it is that they are weird ideas that are also awesome. Yeah Doom might be reusing this beat, but it’s a good one, and yeah RZA actually fighting crime is probably really dangerous and also may never have happened, but it’s cool to think about. This trailer for RZA’s upcoming video touches on all of these things, and even though the idea of a trailer for a music video is dubious, we’re still excited.

Video: Ason Unique ODB Doc Trailer

The last time we had an in-depth look at Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s life, it was the VH1 special about what he was doing after being released from jail. He was subdued and seemed depressed and was working on a still not technically released album. Apparently ODB’s brother has been working on a documentary about his life, interviewing everyone from Ghostface to the most third string of third string Wu affiliates. It remains to be seen how well-made this thing actually is, but any insight into the weirdest dude in rap is always welcome.

Audio: Ghostface f. Method Man & Raekwon, “Yolanda’s House”

On this song Method Man does a hyper-detailed Ghostface style verse, and once again, Raekwon sounds like he’s rapping from a little ways down the hall. In any case, we are in no way mad at this or all the other new Wu material. Ghost’s The Big Doe Rehab comes out December 4th.
