London's Marrakesh Records unveiled this week the results of a survey it commissioned on youth and music in the UK. We can't decide what's more interesting: the fact that the majority of British teens would rather go without sex than give up music for a week, or that the primary place they discover new music online is YouTube. Was that the sound of WMG executives crapping themselves in abject terror? Probably. read more »

The best things in life are free, but from the looks of it, YouTube is in the process of making steps towards compromise with major label moguls that will make the free site just like any other media sharing site these days; equipped with user charges. Whether or not these steps YouTube is taking is in the direction of the user's benefit we are not sure, but regardless the company's new course of action is attempting to create an equilibrium between itself and the money lovin' media conglomerates that want to sabotage our internet freedoms and fun. Don't they know there's a recession? read more »

And so the battle continues. YouTube members are striking back at Warner Music Group's recent decision to strip the free, video-sharing site of any music that violates WMG's copyright policies. Users have made a valiant attempt at defaming WMG's decision; posting swarms of 'protest' videos bashing the entertainment corporation, in hopes of reviving their right to 'creative expression' on the web. read more »

First, the CEO of WMG actually addressed the YouTube tantrum in an interview with Billboard, and now, the unthinkable -- YouTube is muting videos with songs that don't meet copyright standards. read more »

Some of our readers probably can't remember a time when MTV actually played music videos. And soon enough, some of us won't be able to remember a time when we could them on YouTube, either. As more and more videos get pulled from the site, we were less than shocked to learn that the major labels are hard at work figuring out a way to make a little extra cash off internet views. read more »
