Our favorite DJing dinosaur has been mumbling about starting up a radio show for a minute now, and now what was once only brainstormed in IM convos and talked about over Congee Village poultry dishes has become a fully podcasted reality: Mad Decent Radio. An offshoot of his record label of the same name, Diplo is calling Mad Decent Radio "NPR for the streets", but not in the Kay Slay sense of that word - it's a combination of interviews and DJ mixes documenting DIY scenes from Rio to Moscow to anywhere else Diplo's travels take him. Envision a beat-minded Johnny Appleseed sorta thing, meant to expose insanely good music that never had any proper worldwide distribution to anyone with iTunes. For the first edition, Diplo hits Baltimore to chat with Debonair Samir, Jonny Blaze, and other club DJs, and intersperses all manner of remixes and exclusive tracks throughout. Go take a listen.
