Freeload: Old Time Relijun, “Indestructible Life!”

September 11, 2007

As far as we're concerned there is something crazy in the water at There is actually nothing unusual in the water at K Records, but there is a strong African-influenced thread running through the work of Adrian Orange and Old Time Relijun. This would be because of Old Time Relijun sax player Ben Hartman (who also contributed to the upcoming Adrian Orange album) and his love of dudes like Getatchew Mekurya (who we played on EVR last friday.) This track, from their upcoming Catharsis In Crisis (Out October 9th) is a crazy hybrid of slinky Ethiopian sax, Tom Waits-esque vocals, and Phil Elverum's Northwest production drizzle. You can download "Indestructible Life" here. Check out the stream below, and then grab the free download. Or, you know, the other way around.
