Photographer Cass Bird has been shooting lookbooks for Sophomore since designer Chrissie Miller launched the line a couple of years back. Actually, to call them lookbooks isn't really quite right, since Bird's photos for the label are always woozy storyboards of fun, often set in the great downtown outdoors—or indoors depending on the season—with a cast of non-model beauties that reads like a downtown yearbook: Aurel Schmidt, Rita Ackermann and actress/GF of Mark Ronson, Josephine de la Baume, etc etc. For Spring 2010, Miller and Bird take the collection down to Coney Island (RIP), and put the clothes in motion for a little movie ode to summertime frolicks, that features friends like the Virgins' Donald Cummings and artist Lucien Marc Smith talking shit on the boardwalk.
