Brother B (Light Asylum), “Continuous Summer Mix MMXI” MP3

August 03, 2011

This summer Bruno Coviello—probably best known as Light Asylum's man on synths—moved to Berlin, where apparently there are no windows and every day is night. His Continuous Summer Mix MMXI is greased black. The songs are all nearly 30 years old and the vibe's leather-jacket as hell. The first track is from an X-Files episode called "Gender Bender," and there's Skinny Puppy and "Renegades of Funk" and Mantronix and Charlie's "Spacer Woman." There's an old Hollertronix blend of Kraftwerk's "Computer Love" and Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody." The big thing with summer is that every mix is "something to sweat to," but Brother B's seems better suited to blacking out in your uncle's time machine or, as a protest against the intelligentsia, hammering scrap steel under a big industrial fan.
