Boi Stop: Big Boi Arrested in Miami

August 08, 2011

On Sunday afternoon Big Boi was arrested in Miami while departing a cruise ship. He was charged at customs with three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. The 36-year-old rapper, born Antwan Patton, was held in jail on $16,000 bond for a couple hours before being released. Big Boi's lawyer Daniel Kane told CNN that the "small amount of contraband," law enforcement found—ecstasy pills, MDMA powder and Viagra pills for which Big Boi didn't have a prescription—were, "in the collective luggage." Kane says he's, "confident when the entire facts are aired Big Boi will be completely exonerated."

Big Boi's "#teatime #Playcation #Chillaxin" cruise began on July 31st. According to his Twitter account he played mini golf on the upper deck, became the Foursquare mayor of Puro Rico Port, channeled "the energy from the ocean," and stole away for some "#crumbling" during his week at sea.

Following his release, on Sunday evening Daddy Fat Sacks surfaced, tweeting assuredly and releasing a brand new, loosie track:
