This morning, seemingly out of nowhere, my computer started playing Lana Del Rey’s "Video Games." I sat there closing windows left and right trying to figure out from where this unprovoked stream was coming from. I didn't figure it out, but maybe it's just the spirit of Lana Del Rey occupying all beings and computers and media sites everywhere these days. She's certainly possessed Balam Acab because his remix of "Video Games" adds varying degrees of delicate and sweeping orchestration to a spectral, but pretty much completely intact vocal line. It's sorta like Lana Del Rey: The Virtual Musical, starring Lana Del Rey and a computer game-like chorus, with Balam Acab below, emceeing the entire production from his bedroom in Pennsylvania. Video Games EP is out now.
