Video: Frankie Rose, “Night Swim”

When you're a kid, it never really occurs to you that your parents don't really teach you about a lot of the stuff that has to do with growing up. Sure, you learn in school, and your parents teach you about family and responsibility and how to save your money and all that—but the one thing that never really hits home is how adult life is actually really fun, but in a completely different way. As adults, fun is different. But one of the kid-fun things you can still do as an adult is go swimming in the middle of the night. This activity is never anything less than awesome but also terrifying. What's in the water? How cold is it going to be? What's up with those weird deep-sea fish that basically have lights in them? Will you see any of those? Probably not. You'll jump in, it'll be pretty cold, you'll swim around for awhile and feel a deep and solemn thought about your place in the world. Frankie Rose’s "Night Swim" is basically a three minute thesis for her new album Interstellar. It's dark and on edge, but there's an elasticity to it as well. Similarly, the video is all horror-tinted and blurry, until the end, which may or may not involve drowning? We genuinely aren't sure. Welcome to adult life! (via Pitchfork)
