Daye Jack Premieres “Summer Day” Video

Daye Jack (like dah-yay) is a computer science student at NYU; looking at his work, I'd bet that someone with a checkbook will convince him to take a break from school and make music full time soon. "'Summer Day' is a song I wrote my first winter in New York," the Duluth, Georgia native told FADER in an email. "It's about dreaming of something better—summer—when you're feeling down." The song, produced by !ngvar, is taken from Daye's upcoming Soul Glitch tape, and will sound good to anyone who liked Chance The Rapper's Arthur theme song cover or Sublime's self-titled album. (Me!) Directed by David Gallardo, the video's inspired by the hot and lazy days before Netflix, where you "recorded movies on old used VHS tapes that had been recorded over so many times that it warped."
