Ring Of DVDs

This week, in honor of the Man in Black’s birthday, the Johnny Cash estate is going DVD crazy. First up is the Oscar-ready double-disc version of Walk The Line, complete with collectible postcards and an extra hour of Joaquin and Paul Beauregard’s newest groupie (Ryan Phillipe! Rarely do we encourage handcuffing, but DJ Paul is a dog, one you do not trust. Just FYI.) But never to be impressed by nice packaging, quality filmmaking, or secularism, we prefer to give equal interweb shine to The Gospel Road, Cash’s 1973 Jesus flick. Basically this is what 30-something Nashville Evangelicals dreamed of in the Seventies – JC narrating JC, with the help of June Carter Cash, Kris Kristofferson, and a bunch of others. And since true cinematic gems (IMDB rating: 4.9) don’t need extras, this one’s only got trailers – one for Walk The Line, natch. Synergy!
