Chop Socky
- story THE FADER
For a group as lyrically visual as the Wu, their videos usually didn’t take it there on a pioneering level: Bokeem Woodbine getting herbed out in both “Careful” and “Protect Ya Neck (The Jump Off)” isn’t exactly innovative. But as seen on Legend Of The Wu-Tang, their new DVD video collection out tomorrow, when the Clan did abandon jankster computer animation and high concept (read: not good) ideas, their natural charm came through. Hype Williams’ take on “Can It All Be So Simple” shows them at their street corner, bad weather best, and the footage of the group wilding out in tourist hats in front of a multi-racial Hawaiian concert crowd for “It’s Yourz” may be the most inspiring rap lifestyle fantasy ever depicted.
