Soul To Soul

Shame on you if you didn’t make it out to the Triple Five Soul/FADER Second Annual Soul Sessions tour at the Canal Room last night. Tuesday is the new Wednesday is the new Friday is the new orange! Ah but we digress. Ge-ology jump started the night with throwbacks, percussive Latin cuts and Maceo Parker horns, while the tour’s resident DJ Benji B spun soul boogie and disco to the party people. Eventually Rich Medina took the driver’s seat, steering through African rhythms, J Dilla’s “E=MC2″, Simon & Garfunkel, and Suzanne Vega. If you happened to miss last night’s beatery, you still have time to hop in your rusty-ass rattletrap and catch the funk at Boston’s Underbar tonight — or keep the wheels vertical and head up to Montreal for the international scene at Cabaret tomorrow.
