Miami Bass

We were about to write something about all the samples and interpolations and guest appearances and general “extra” shit on Pitbull’s very clubby and enjoyable new album El Mariel (Vybz Kartel! Hector Lavoe! Debbie Deb!) but then we got to track 14, “Hey You Girl,” and had to put our theoretical Bics down. Produced by Jim Jonsin, it starts off with Pit spouting about that “left field, thinking out the box, never thought this could happen” shit and then the track transforms into a 150+ BPM banger based on a sample from the B-52’s “Rock Lobster.” Um…whahuh?!? TIN ROOF, RUSTED! Check for it on Halloween.
