Gonzoculars
- story THE FADER
Hunter S. Thompson, “Sandy and Agar, Big Sur” (1961)
We wonder if Hunter S. Thompson would have bothered to attend Beverly Hills gallery M+B’s exhibition of his personal photographs. Maybe you’ve heard of the time he drugmobiled to Vegas out of disdain for LA? We feel like doing the same sometimes, but we’ll settle for quadruple espressos and a roomful of ol’ Duke’s Kodachromes. Guns, booze, Hell’s Angels, and shiners delivered by Hell’s Angels: this show’s got it all. And when you’re done pretending to see bats on the ceiling, you can purchase Gonzo, the accompanying book of Thompson’s photos, memorabilia and writing (introduction written by Edward Scissorhands).
