We just received word that legendary Cuban percussionist Carlos “Patato” Valdes passed away last night in Cleveland, Ohio of respiratory failure. We profiled Valdes in FADER 36 and invited him to perform at the very first Puma/FADER Gen F Live show in 2006, at which he proceeded to shred the congas like no one we have ever seen. We recorded the whole set that night which you can download below.
