Freeload/Q+A: Talbot Tagora, “Hunger Strike”

February 27, 2008

In our ongoing journey along the No Age/Abe Vigoda/Smell axis, we found ourselves in Seattle, jamming in ways we never knew we could to Talbot Tagora's cover of Elastica's "Connection." We hit the dudes up for a quick Q+A about why they have the same name as a funny looking car and a bunch of other stuff, which you can check out IN ALL CAPS after the jump. Also, download "Hunger Strike" below for 0.00 dollars, and if you're into it you can pay Real Money for their music here.

How long have you guys been playing together?

WE HAVE BEEN PLAYING TOGETHER SINCE SUMMER 2006

Why did you guys name yourself after such a funny looking car?

WE HAD A HARD TIME NAMING THE BAND SO WE WENT WITH A NAME
THAT DIDN'T REALLY MEAN ANYTHING BUT IT ENDED UP BEING A CAR. ANI KNEW A CAT NAMED TALBOT TAGORA.

How's the music scene in Seattle these days? Any new bands from there that you are really into?

THERE ARE A LOT OF REALLY GOOD SEATTLE BANDS THAT ARE DIVERSE RIGHT NOW BUT SOME OF THE ONES THAT STICK OUT TO US WHEN YOU SAY 'NEW' ARE: FLEXIONS, PILLOW FIGHT FIGHT, TELEPATHIC LIBERATION ARMY, THE LAST SLICE OF BUTTER,
AND LITTLE PARTY AND THE BAD BUSINESS.

What are you working on now?

WE HAVE MORE THAN A FEW THINGS THAT
ARE SUPPOSED TO BE COMING OUT SOON SUCH AS A SPLIT TAPE WITH 'HANDJOBS' (NY) ON PARADISE VENDORS INC,
A SPLIT TAPE WITH 'SHEARING PINX' FROM VANCOUVER-BC (ON THE LABEL THEY RUN CALLED 'ISOLATED NOW WAVES')
A 7" COMPILATION THAT OUR FRIEND SHAGGY IS PUTTING OUT.
WE'RE ALSO PUTTING SONGS ON A COUPLE OTHER VANCOUVER TAPE LABELS
BUT RIGHT NOW WE'RE RECORDING A BATCH OF SONGS TO PUT ON A TAPE THAT 'FUCK-IT TAPES' IS RELEASING
AND ALSO CD-R FOR A TOUR AT THE END OF MARCH.

Where is your favorite place to play?

THERE ARE A FEW PLACES WE REALLY LIKE TO PLAY;
HEALTHY TIMES FUN CLUB, THE OLD REDMOND FIREHOUSE,
AND THERE WAS THIS REALLY COOL SPACE THAT IS NOW SHUT DOWN
THAT WAS ALWAYS FUN TO PLAY CALLED 'THE S.S. MARIE ANTOINETTE'.
