Freeload: Virgin Forest, Assorted Songs

June 18, 2008

A million months ago we went to see Phosphorescent at the STILL OPEN (!) Silent Barn. It was pouring rain outside and he played with a full band. Everyone seemed really drunk. At the end the bandmembers wrestled, and every song was two minutes longer than its recorded version. It was a total mess, but we left feeling pretty excited about music.

It turns out that the other dudes playing at that show have their own band called Virgin Forest. We saw them play more recently at Glasslands where they were somber and not really that drunk. Now here's the fun part: we tried to buy music after the show, but since they didn't have any we figured we'd check out their MySpace and listen to a couple really sad and wistful songs and call it a day. Lucky for us—sort of—they have an entire album's worth of material up for download across three different MySpace pages. Thanks guys! Actually, the internet has made us really lazy. If this were 1994 we'd have to trade for these songs with some dude in Texas, they would come packaged in grease stains and track six wouldn't play.

Download part one here, part two here, and part three here.
