LA: Special Disco Version

August 07, 2008

Ever since James Murphy and Pat Mahoney decided to share their collection and borderline-unhealthy obsession with Underground Loft-era disco and weirdo soulful house gems we've made it our business to hear them play it as much as possible. That meant constantly bumping their Fabriclive set until we knew every word to some old songs about cowboys and gangsters and "Chicago Town" that we didn't even know existed before getting all excited when when the dudes decided to play those tracks out on a regular basis as Special Disco Version. Understanding that it may be a little unfair that New Yorkers should be the only ones experiencing this revival in the flesh, James and Pat are making their Special Disco Version Los Angeles debut on Saturday, August 9 hosted by Donuts with Tim Sweeney and the Black Disco Soundsystem DJs. If that sounds like a lot of DJs with a lot of great records, well, it is, but just know that the party will go til 5am and is at an "underground location." Get your tickets at the Donuts Party site.
