Freeload: Las Palabras, “La Primera Vez”
- story THE FADER
After long years of collaborations and labels, ex-Supersystem member (and occasional FADER contributor) Rafael Cohen has branched out on his own as Las Palabras with a little guitar, organ swirl and a pinging woodblock for backup (though we’re pretty sure he played all the instruments himself). “La Primera Vez” is the first song he’s released from the project. The RCRD LBL dude says “Every time I hear it I’m scoring the next Almodóvar film in my head,” and no doubt he is referencing this intensely depressing scene from Talk To Her. While Las Palabras may not be music for mourning a dead bullfighting lover, it’s not an unapt comparison.
