A "friend of ours" got arrested once for being too cool and distinctly remembers the arresting officers telling him that he "should cheer up because he's about to get a day off of work." Cops are funny like that. They employ a descendant of cowboy humor to make you think they're your buddy, and then you go to court and they call your respectability into question. It's quite clever.
