Freeload/Video: Dan Lissvik of Studio, “Track One” and “Track Five”

Can you listen to Studio when it isn’t weather for the beach? Are they a soundtrack to sand and sea or just a mnemonic device to tug salty humid air to the front of your mind? What beach are they? They may be in Sweden, but they always sounded Pacific with the light twinkle. But Dan Lissvik, half of the group, has a solo debut that is total Indian Ocean at night. Heavy guitar and tiny drum patter, he’s slowed the strum and upped the castanets. “Track One,” the opener to to the forthcoming 7 Tracks + Intermission is a little Brazilian, a little irie, a little weird episode of Get Smart where they go to the Philippines. Just go with it.
