LA: Melissa Brown and Matt Brinkman Opening at M+B Gallery
- story THE FADER
Not to get all economy schmaconomy blah blah blah on you, but this show of lizardoid doomsday monsters and architectural forms fashioned from lottery tickets takes on special significance considering, you know, the whole wage gap thoia thang. Melissa Brown’s works on paper are exquisite colorful patchworks that list how many dollars’ worth of used scratch tickets she used to create them (”Money Bees,” above: $1933). Mat Brinkman, also known as Mister Fort Thunder, draws inky deformed dudes that look like us the morning after a late Saturday night at the club. The show opens this Saturday, January 31 in conjunction with the venerated Picturebox. Details after the jump.
